When life gives you lemons...
I've had kind of a crappy day. A few things happened that irked me and I'm having a little trouble shaking it off. I've decided that when life hands you lemons, you can make....

A friend is someone who knows all about you and likes you anyway.
Ain't that the truth?
My BFF has been with me through thick and thin. We only see each other once or twice a year but when we do we can pick up right where we left off. She's been my best friend for 33 years!
I love how this card came out.

Happy Fall Y'All!!
In honor of the cooler weather and the official start of fall, I've found these lovelies. It's time to think about warm toasty clothes in rich fall colors!
I love this...
I love this...
My dance diva daughter would love this...
Keep scrolling, there's more cozy stuff!
Love this! I'm not a hat person but I can picture a teen girl wearing this...
And last but not least...
These look like the most awesomest, warm and cozy fingerless gloves. How could anyone not want to wear these?

Weight Watchers rocks!
I tweeted this morning that I had to head off to my Weight Watchers (WW for short) meeting in a little bit. I haven't been faithful about it since the beginning of summer but I do try to attend every 2-3 weeks.
I began my WW journey five and a half years ago in January 2004. I'm 5' tall and at the time weighed almost 150 lbs - a good 25-30 lbs more than I should be. I joined their online program and reached my goal weight by July of that year. I was thrilled! I had to buy a whole new wardrobe right down to my underwear. 30 lbs is a big loss on a tiny person. I lost about 20% of my starting weight.
Anyway, I slipped off the wagon and by January of this year I'd regained about 18 lbs. Even my fat clothes were getting tight. I was angry with myself for slipping like that. It was very hard but I found that place deep inside that helped me lose the first time around and I did it again. This time I joined a meeting in my town. I attended faithfully every Thurs. morning at 9:00 until I reached my goal once again and earned my Lifetime membership in May. Go me!
This summer was a struggle again for me. Staying on program became difficult with my more relaxed schedule (the kids were out of school, I was sleeping in, etc.). I've still managed to keep all the weight off plus some. I hover around 120, which is 8 lbs below my WW goal of 128 (that's the number I need to maintain to keep my meetings free).
A huge factor in my maintenance is walking. Up until a couple of months ago I walked 6 days a week, 2 miles a day for 30 minutes. From what I hear that's a pretty darn good pace. We got hit with a lot of rain in June & July and that put a big damper (no pun intended!) on my efforts. Now I'm walking 2-3 times a week which is probably enough to maintain my weight. I'm trying to get into a regular schedule again of walking at least 4-5 times a week because it really makes a difference in how I feel on a day to day basis. I was walking in the evenings after dinner. Now that the days are getting shorter it's going to become more challenging to do that. I need to train my body to walk in the morning on the days I'm home (which is 5 out of 7 days). My body is so used to walking in the evening that when I walk in the morning I feel like I'm starting from scratch. lol
Here's a before & after shot of me when I lost the weight back in 04. This is a scrapbook page I made about my journey because it was such a big accomplishment for me. I was always a skinny kid but once I hit my 20s & 30s I started struggling with weight issues.
My main point of this blog is that WW rocks because it works. It takes hard work and lots of discipline but if you follow the program you'll get results. If I can do it anyone can.

Wasteful Wednesday!
Let's see, I've seen blogs titled Wordless Wednesday and Whatever Wednesday.
Mine is Wasteful Wednesday.
I'm sure all of us have had days like this. My husband's friend's mother died this week so I asked if he'd like me to make a card. Being the crafty crafter that I am I figured I'd do a 2 for 1 deal - one for the friend, one for Etsy. Is that bad? :D
Everything I touched ended up being wasted. My stamp wouldn't stamp right - wasted paper. My pen smudged - another wasted piece of paper. My daughter interrupted me while I was assembling one of the cards and I put one of the pieces on wrong. I tried to gently peel it apart and ripped the card. A wasted card. Geez. After more time that it should have taken I finally got two cards made - one for the friend and one for Etsy.
Who knows when I'll get all my cards for Etsy photographed because that's my most dreaded chore. I can't get the lighting right. I even made one of those homemade light boxes and it's still not right.
This is one of my favorite items in my shop right now. I really enjoy making cards but I'm so anal it takes me an hour to put one together.

My Wedding Anniversary - 19 years today!
I was married at 10:30 on a Saturday morning 19 years ago today. My sister was my matron of honor. My best friend was my bridesmaid and my stepdaughter was my flower girl. It rained. One of my favorite pictures in my wedding album is of my new husband and me standing near the open door of our maroon Lincoln Town Car (rented) with a big black golf umbrella (borrowed for the photo) over us. Good times. :-)
After 19 years of everyday ups & downs including homeownership, parenting, taking care of elderly parents, job loss, surgeries, etc. - he's still the one. This year all we did was exchange cards but even "just a card" recognizes that special day that started of our life together 19 years ago.
Bronze is the theme of the 19th wedding anniversary. I puffy heart my DH.

New Earrings, Sale and Relists!
I've relisted a couple of items and added two new pairs of earrings to my shop today. If you need any scalloped circle tags check out my Tags/Punchies section. I can do almost any color so feel free to send me a convo to see if I can accommodate you.
I've also dropped the prices of several of my paper piecings. My Halloween, school and summer pieces are all on sale. Once they're gone, they're gone! I won't be making more until the next season comes around.
Onto to the new listings! My daughter made up a couple more pairs of cute earrings. She picks out the cutest beads and does such a great job putting them together. She's made me several pairs and I wear them all the time. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them from family, coworkers and even complete strangers.

I love these star earrings. She previously made these in purple and coral/red and they went fast.
I think these are so pretty and festive for the holidays. I picture them with a pretty blue or black outfit. She also has a pair of these in blue listed in our shop - same price, same style, just blue.

Photography by JanSDrew
I've decided I'd like to replace the tired old picture I've had hanging in my living room for years. It's not even something that I'm remotely in love with so I don't know why it's even there. My kids have said more than once, "Mom, when are you going to put something new in that spot?"
It's time. I want something that's related to our New England life. Something beautiful, peaceful and calming.
I went on a quest on Etsy this morning. My keywords were "New England fall photo." I found this:
This is gorgeous. I can see myself sitting on my couch watching my favorite TLC shows and getting lost in this photo during the commercials. This one may very well make it into my home. :-)

Retail Therapy!
I'm feeling something here. This morning I went to a craft tag sale at the local scrapbook store. This wasn't other people's old cast offs. It was quality stuff - Stampin Up stamp sets, embellishments and paper. Lots and lots of paper. I puffy heart paper. Paper is my friend. I bought three packs of gorgeous papers and a pack of sparkly goodness (gems). I can't wait to make some cards with them.
I also got two packages from Etsy this week. Both of them were purchased from sellers in the 5 min. FS chat room. I figured I'd show off my new toys to the rest of the class - or rather, to anyone following this blog. Who doesn't like looking at pretty stuff? I'm linking to the sold listings so please browse their shops to see what other fun things they have. They're both wonderful ladies with cute shops.
Coming to a card set in the near future...
blue/white/brown ribbon
from needlekraft at Etsy
I absolutely love the blue/brown combo. These were from a detash sale but she has lots of really cute items in her shop!
Even more fun stuff for cardmaking ...
Curls and Swirls Embossed Card Pieces
from amaretto at Etsy
I know she has more of this in her shop. It's beautiful. You won't be disappointed!
If you know of any other shops with great scrapbooking/cardmaking deals, feel free to post them in the comments section. I'm always on the lookout for great detash sales!

Em's Gems - my daughter's creations
My daughter makes all the earrings sold in my shop. She's 11 years old and I think she's pretty darn talented. Saturday is her day to be featured. (ok, so technically it's still Friday night but in an hour it'll be Saturday and I'll lose the computer to the three other people in my house!).
Emily loves crafts. She scrapbooks, she makes cards, she writes and illustrates stories and she makes jewelry. She's a very creative young lady and I'm very proud of her.
I know she'd love to see her jewelry get a little extra attention. There's lots more in my shop as well.

Boy Killaz--Crafting for Charities
My first feature ever is an Etsy shop called Boy Killaz. I stumbled on this shop this morning while checking a thread I created on the Promotions forum asking for followers to this blog.
This shop tugged at my heart strings. The profits from their sold items are given to two charities - Greensboro Animal Rescue & Foster program and Stand Proud . I'm a big animal lover. My family adopted our cat Flower from a local cat rescue two years ago when she was two years old. We absolutely adore her and I think she feels the same about us. :-) I also love that this shop is committed to helping disabled children through Stand Proud.
Please check out Boy Killaz shop, give them lots of hearts and show your support for these two wonderful causes!

Welcome!
Hello and thanks for visiting my blog! I've never been much of a blogger so please be patient while I accustom myself to all of this.
My main goal with this blog is to feature new items as they are added to my Etsy shop. Since I don't pump out new items everyday, I will also feature random items I find on Etsy. I visit Etsy everyday and absolutely love poking around people's shops. I participate in the FS chats and the Promotions forums. I see lots of items that deserve a little extra boost so I hope my little blog can help out my fellow Etsians.
To start off this blog I'm featuring the newest items in my shop that need a little love. I listed these this morning and they've had a slow start. These would be adorable on a scrapbook page about your favorite pet. I'd be happy to create custom pieces in the same color as your pet.
I love this brown dog paper piecing!
This long legged kitty needs some loving too.
