My daughter and I went to the monthly crop at the LSS Saturday night. This month's crop was a breast cancer fundraiser that ran from 10am to 10pm. Some people chose to do just a half day, which is what we did. One of the activities was a layout contest using a page kit supplied by the LSS, which included a few sheets of double-sided patterned paper, a sticker sheet and white letter stickers. Everyone had the same kit and we were to use as many elements from the kit as possible. We could alter anything and add stuff from our own stash.
I used my own green cardstock for background paper, then used all the paper supplied to embellish the page. I used quite a few of the stickers as well. I cut the giant flower from one of the patterned papers, added Stickles and created leaves with a giant flower punch I had in my bag (also with paper from the kit). I inked the white letters with blue. The letters didn't come with any punctuation so I had to use an 'n' instead of an ampersand. I didn't bring many photos to the crop because I planned on working on other projects so I left a spot to fill in later. I'll add a photo of my husband and me as soon as I get one.
My layout won for "most use of embellishments" which I renamed to "most crap on the page." LOL I won a 6x6 pad of patterned papers. I can't remember who the manufacturer is and I'm too lazy to dig it out of my tote. I also came home with a beautiful handmade fall table runner that I won in a drawing and a goodie bag filled with all sorts of pink themed stuff including another pad of 6x6 papers. :)
My daughter's layout won for "best use of photos." She used a bunch of silly pics of her and her best friend (who also goes to the crop with her mom - we always sit together). She also won a pad of 6x6 papers. She chose cat designs - no surprise!
It was a great night out with lots of laughs. I even managed to get a little bit done! lol
