Tweet Tweet

Do you Tweet?

Does social networking on Twitter scare you? Intrigue you? Interest you at all?

You should at least check it out.

I started tweeting last fall when I was trying to sell on Etsy. I say trying because that's about all it amounted to. Tweeting is the thing to do when you're an Etsy seller. Tweet your listings, follow other sellers so they follow you, tweet all day long so people see you, blah blah blah. Eventually I gave up on Etsy and unfollowed most of the Etsy sellers. No offense but my Twitter page looked like one long Etsy feed. It wasn't social networking, it was a sales pitch.

I gradually added the people and companies that actually interest me. Some of them actually found little old me! I found Fiskars when they started following me. The same with ElmersBrands - you know, the ones that make the glue. Heck, Ellen DeGenerous follows me! (ok, so I had to follow her first and I'm one out of 30,402 people she's following but who's counting). She has over 4 million followers and she's following me! I also follow A.C. Moore, Joann's, a few money saver blogs, Ryan Seacrest, Jeff Probst, P!nk, etc. I follow a few ordinary people, but I mainly follow craft manufacturers, stores and blogs. But anyway, I digress.

ElmersBrands tweeted about a random drawing they were doing. All we had to do was tweet a link of our favorite layout to them. I tweeted this one and then promptly forgot about the drawing.
That's Emily when she was almost 10. Isn't she cute?

ElmersBrands posted a few days later reminding people to send their layouts, which reminded me that there was a drawing coming up. A few days later, ElmersBrands tweeted and sent me a direct message telling me I'd won a prize pack. Yay!

On Tuesday I got home from an extremely hectic day at work and found a cardboard box on my front steps. Hmm...I didn't order anything. The return address said Elmers. Woo hoo. I opened it and found all of this inside:

Feast your eyes on these goodies - a box of adhesive, paint pens and other fun stuff just in time for National Scrapbooking Day. All from one little Tweet. So even if you don't have time to Tweet all day or even everyday, just check it a few times a week. You may stumble on a fun surprise every now and then.

I'm JudyScraps on Twitter. (a link to follow me is on the sidebar) Tweet me a hello!

I've contemplated tweeting, but it mught just be a network too far for me right now. I'm seriously trying to cut down my computer time at home so that I can get on with sewing my bears. Somehow Twitter doesn't seem to have reached the bear world yet, so I'll just stick to the website, blog and Facebook fanpage for now!

Congrats on your win!! I've JUST started tweeting, still finding it confusing and a bit pointless but now after reading your post, I'm going to keep on with it and keep persisting!! Thanks for the inspiration!! I'm also on facebook and find that alot easier and more direct, but there's no reason I can't do both!!
Thanks again!!

I don't tweet (I feel like that is going to be a song someday). I'd rather surf onto people's blogs. Congrats on the goodies though! I love those paint pens. I paint furniture and I use those a lot.
