Yummy.I'm always looking for new ways to make pork chops. I personally think pork chops are boring. My family likes them but I'm not a big fan. So when I found this recipe in an old cooking magazine I figured I'd give it a whirl.
Let me just say that the aroma wafting through the house while these were frying was fabulous. The prep and cooking time is less than 30 minutes. The downside is they're not heart healthy. They tasted fantastic but I could picture the butter clogging up my arteries.
Parmesan Pork Chops
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 boneless pork loin chops (3/4 inch thick and 6 ounces each)
2 tablespoons olive oil
In a shallow microwave-safe bowl, melt butter. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the Parmesan cheese, flour, Italian seasoning, parsley and pepper. Dip each pork chop in butter; place in bag, one at a time, and shake to coat.
In a large skillet, cook pork in oil over medium heat for 7-8 minutes on each side or until juices run clear.
And what are pork chops without apple sauce...
I got this recipe from my friend Janelle. She makes the most yummy comfort foods! I serve this with pork chops (instead of a vegetable). I cut the recipe in half and it's plenty for the four of us. My family loves it.
Spiced Apple Sauce
8 apples, peeled & sliced
1/2 cup apple juice (or water)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp all spice
1/4 tsp ground cloves
Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan. Cook on med low heat for 30-40 minutes, until apples are soft. Remove from heat and mash. Serve warm or cold.
